### Will my application be accepted if my letters of recommendation are submitted after the deadline? expand\_more

Yes, your application will be accepted but please have your recommenders submit their letters as soon as possible if not able to meet the fellowship deadline.

### Are there different application portals? expand\_more

There is one single application for the Frank Knox Memorial fellowships at Harvard University, but applicants will select which country they are applying from.

### What does the Knox fellowship provide? expand\_more

The Knox fellowship covers a recipient’s tuition and health fees, plus a generous stipend, for up to two years in a full-time graduate degree program at Harvard. The fellowship also provides opportunities to connect with the cohort of fellows as well as fellowship alumni.

### I meet the eligibility criteria, but I am currently studying in the U.S. Am I eligible to apply? expand\_more

No application will be considered from any potential applicant already living or studying in the United States.

### Where do I submit my application? expand\_more

Interested applicants must apply directly though the Committee on General Scholarships at Harvard University. The online application will be available in October for the upcoming cycle.

### I am applying to Harvard as a Visiting Fellow/Special Student, am I eligible to apply? expand\_more

Knox Fellowships are not awarded for non-degree programs, undergraduate study, or postdoctoral research. This includes special students, visiting fellows, medical researchers, or any other research appointment. These fellowships are not available for online or part-time programs, or Executive Education programs.

### Can I use the same references that I used for my admissions application? expand\_more

While it is understandable that applicants wish to use the same references from their admissions application, we encourage that letters of recommendation be written specifically for the fellowship. If that is not feasible, it is your responsibility to have your recommender submit their letter of recommendation on your behalf to the Committee on General Scholarships. It is not possible to have copies of these letters forwarded from the school to which you’ve applied to be added to your application.

### Can I use the same essay that I used for my admissions application? expand\_more

It is recommended that you submit an essay that speaks to the requirements of the Knox Fellowship essay.

### I need to change something on my application. Is this possible? expand\_more

Unfortunately, once you have submitted your application form online you cannot change your details. Please contact <cgs@harvard.edu> for any questions.

### Will you confirm receipt of my application? expand\_more

Once you complete and submit your fellowship application online, you will receive a confirmation message and email. Once the deadline has passed, we will follow up to confirm next steps.

### I have applied for other awards. Can I still apply for Knox? expand\_more

Yes, applicants may still apply for the Knox fellowship if they have also applied for other awards. As the Knox fellowship covers tuition and health fees plus a generous stipend, please note that Knox funding may replace funds you have been awarded from your Harvard school, or other scholarship sources.

### I do not yet know my admissions status. Can I still apply? expand\_more

Applicants will, in many cases, need to apply for the Knox fellowship around the same time that they are applying for admission. This is because admissions decisions are typically made after the fellowship deadline. Knox Fellowships are awarded only to those candidates that gain admission to Harvard as full-time degree-program students.

### I am affiliated with multiple Knox eligible countries. What should I do? expand\_more

Applicants affiliated with more than one Knox eligible country may only submit one application and should apply through the country where they have the strongest affiliation (such as birthplace, residential status, or where you have spent the majority of your educational or professional training).

### When will the updated application materials be available? expand\_more

The updated online application will be available on our website in October with applications being due in February. Please refer to the country specific pages for more information on what materials will be needed along with your application.
