Rebecca aims to change how we understand Chinese identity and influence in the world, concentrating on Chinese ethnicities beyond the mainland. She is investigating the relationship between Chinese literature and language policy with particular focus on Southeast Asia and Taiwan. As a writer and journalist, she has worked in China and Southeast Asia writing on mass urbanisation, foreign direct investment and cultural development.
