Australia | Harvard Kenneth C. Griffin Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, A.M. in Regional Studies East Asia

At Harvard, Reika will focus on diplomatic relations between countries in Northeast Asia and alliance politics in the Asia-Pacific. Her research will explore the dynamics of U.S.-R.O.K-Japan trilateral coordination within the context of the DPRK’s WMD program and intensifying U.S.-China rivalry. Drawing on her experiences growing up as a bi-native of Korea and Japan, she is particularly interested in exploring the gamut of factors hindering sustained and constructive bilateral relations between Japan and the Korean peninsula. Through combining functional expertise and regional specialization, Reika aspires to work with governments and international organizations, and advise on strategies to address key security challenges in the Asia Pacific. Having lived in nine cities across three continents, she is a proud global citizen and is trilingual in English, Japanese, and Korean.
