Throughout his schooling across four continents, Sea Yun hopes to dedicate his life to promote the timeless wisdom gained through close reading of texts from Late Antiquity in their historical contexts. Continuing his undergraduate appreciation for Biblical texts from the Second Temple as well as for Early Christian documents, he hopes to promote an awareness of the living tradition embodied in the Jewish and Christian traditions in the vibrant, dynamic Mediterranean of Late Antiquity. Specifically, he is interested in the interplay between Second Temple traditions and Early Christian exegesis of the Hebrew Bible / Old Testament, particularly in the Latin West before Augustine. Through studying this dynamic period, he hopes to uncover implications for modern ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, and to foster an appreciation for the Sacred within tradition: Often, what earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too.
