Joanna Park

Joanna will be undertaking the Media, Medicine and Health course at Harvard Medical School, where she will explore storytelling as a tool for health promotion. Her academic focus will examine how lived identity, historical power structures and public perceptions shape the culture of surgery and its impact on clinicians and patients, with particular attention to women in surgery and other marginalized voices. Through this work, she hopes to better understand how these narratives influence trust in healthcare and the future of surgical practice. Joanna aspires to combine a career in surgery with creative public health communication while continuing to advocate for greater diversity and accessibility in surgical education.
