  3. Each Knox Fellowship applicant must also submit an Application for Admission directly to the Harvard graduate or professional school of their choice. Please visit https://www.harvard.edu/academics/schools/ for a list of all Harvard schools where you will find information about programs and the admissions process, including deadlines.

Knox Fellowships are awarded only to those candidates that gain admission to Harvard as full-time degree-program students. Applicants are urged to begin correspondence with that school’s Admissions Office at the earliest possible date. Applicants should submit Applications for Admission to the appropriate school as early as possible and need not wait for the deadline.

  4. Fellowship applicants seeking admission to the Harvard Law School LL.M Program must have a first law degree (J.D., LL.B, or the equivalent).
  5. Knox Fellowships are not awarded for non-degree programs, undergraduate study, or postdoctoral research. This includes special students, visiting fellows, medical researchers, or any other research appointment. These fellowships are not available for online or part-time programs, or Executive Education programs. Normally Frank Knox Fellows must be in residence in the Boston/Cambridge area during the first two years of their degree program. (The fellowship will not support students whose programs require extensive field-work during this period.)

Please note students from the United Kingdom who are currently studying in or graduated from a university in another Knox-eligible country are eligible to submit a Knox Fellowship application, with the understanding that they meet the other eligibility requirements. In this situation, you should apply through the country where you have the strongest affiliation (such as birthplace, residential status, or where you have spent the majority of your educational or professional training). Submitting more than one application to multiple country portals is not allowed. If you have further questions, please contact cgs@harvard.edu.
